The importance of family centered approach in pediatric surgery

Apparently
the communication skills used in medicine is inseparable from basic
communication skills that is used in every field of daily life and the medical
doctor candidates who will possess those basic communication skills will
reflect the knowledge, capability and attitude to their professional lives.A child’s
surgical period usually contains unpleasant and difficult experiences, for the
child and the parents. In the last decade, family-centered care was developed
to facilitate the process of care of children with special needs and their
families. There has been a growing understanding that the family has an
important role in the surgical period of their children.
In this
study, we aimed to give point to the effective communication in medical
proficiency and additionally the importance and necessity of the model of
family centered care process in healthcare and especially in pediatric surgery,
also with presenting with an example model.
